Eat, Pray, Not In Love

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to travel to Italy 🇮🇹 with my Wealth and Business Mastermind Group. The trip was my first time visiting the country, so I took advantage by extending my trip and bringing my soul pet, Mana, along for the adventure. In addition to the one week traveling to Rome, Naples, and Amalfi Coast with my  group, I added on three weeks with my sons visiting many more beautiful Italian cities, including Tuscany, Venice, Lake Como, and Milan.

There were so many wonderful moments during the trip, in particular, the community—the locals welcoming us, having Mana and my sons with me, and staying in charming homes (Airbnbs) all made my trip happy…but I felt a heaviness in the energy surrounding me and the country. 🤔

We were not aligned ⛔

Perhaps it was the time of year—summer is tourist season, and everything was crowded and extremely hot and people were stressed. That collective energy emanated through the country, bringing down the vibration and draining mine. I also  believe the media and Hollywood influenced my perception of the country. I pictured my Italian adventure to be more like Under the Tuscan Sun with funny Italian characters and peaceful small towns, or Eat, Pray, Love with an inspiring love story. Instead, there was a frenetic energy around Italy. And when I say this, it is not in contempt or criticism for the country—it just was not the right energy for me.

So how did I combat this potential energy drain? ⚡

I spent much of my time in my darling Airbnbs, enjoying the company around me. I did go for walks and explore, but I avoided a lot of the more touristy places to protect myself and Mana from the frenetic, stressful energy and heat. My sons and I even cooked a lot! I know Italy is so known for their food, but I found that being where the locals are—the grocery stores and little markets, made me feel more at home, so I bought my own ingredients and cooked!

I would like to make clear that my experience is not a criticism of Italy or its people! If I have learned one thing through my healing journey, it is that some things are just not meant for you. And Italy in the summer at the peak of tourist season and heat waves is not for me 💗

This experience was The Universe reminding me that not everything is for me. It can be beautiful, gorgeous things like the Italian countryside, but if it does not feel right in your soul, then you must let it go. It is also part of Effortless Abundance: just because it is popular and sought after does not mean you have to “hold onto it” or be stingy with sharing. Instead, recognize that this is not for you and send it on its way for someone else to appreciate and enjoy. That sharing energy will help whatever is meant for you, find you faster 🌬

Have you experienced a misalignment with a beautiful location? Tell me about it in the comments!
